Prepare Yourself

“You yourselves know how plainly I told you, ‘I am not the Messiah. I am only here to prepare the way for him.’ It is the bridegroom who marries the bride, and the best man is simply glad to stand with him and hear his vows. Therefore, I am filled with joy at his success. He must become greater and greater, and I must become less and less.”
John 3:28-30 NLT

John the Baptist was sent to be the messenger for the coming of the Messiah. So while John was baptizing at Aeron near Silas, His disciples started an argument with a Jew about the people who were going to the Messiah for baptism instead of coming to them. John reminded his disciples that he was not the Messiah. He was best man standing near the groom. He was preparing the way for the Lord. John acknowledged he would become less & less while He that is greater will become greater.  How can we become less to make room for Christ? We often get in our own way while Christ forgives us and extends His mercy and grace towards us. Who will God send next to prepare the way for the return of Christ? Just like John the Baptist, God has sent many messengers to help us prepare the way for Christ. But we tend to put ourselves first and think about God later. What adjustments will you make in your life to make more room for Christ? God sent His son to die for our sins but we constantly act as if we have so much time until Christ’s return. Today mentally ignore anything that is distracting you from God. Find somewhere quiet to ask for his forgiveness and open your mind and heart to him.

Rise Up

Have you ever witnessed death when the spirit leaves the body or is in preparation to leave the body? This is one of the most powerful things I’ve come to witness. God is in communication with the earthly body preparing the spirit for heaven. This reminds us that we are here for a short time and need to spend our time here getting to know who God really is. He provides us with gifts that we have the opportunity to use for His glory. How will you be remembered when Christ comes back? John 5:28-29, says “Don’t be so surprised! Indeed, the time is coming when all the dead in their graves will hear the voice of God’s Son, and they will rise again. Those who have done good will rise to experience eternal life, and those who have continued in evil will rise to experience judgment.”
John 5:28-29 NLT
So now is our opportunity to thank God for all the mercy he grants us. We are all sinners that fall short daily. If it wasn’t for God sending His Son as a sacrifice to pay our debts, we wouldn’t be here today.  Our mindset has to be eternal living instead of earthly living. You never know when your time will be up so use your gift to tell the world who Christ is. Today repent for all your sins and help anyone in need of prayer whether it’s family, co-workers, or friends. Become what Christ created you to be today!
