A Call for Help

David called for help during a time when he felt like the enemy was winning his race. He cried out for help to God for his favor. How many of us have cried out to God? There are tough times when we feel like God isn’t listening, but he hears all of our prayers. He knows what we want before we ask. Sometimes we get anxious and even exaggerate things when we shouldn’t. But my God stays forever patient and true to us. In a time when everything is dark, we have to pray and cry out to God to save us from the wicked ones who relentlessly curse and abuse us for being righteous. God is asking you and I to call out to Him in this time for healing a world that needs him. We have to be ready to face this enemy and get ready for battle. #getreadyforwar

Love Your Enemies

How many of us will love our enemies? How can we actually do this? It can be a difficult thing to do, loving people who actually hate you or dislike anything you. We can all relate to people who always have something to say about what others do that is right. Or assume that their actions will justify what is right in their eyes. Only God can justify what is right and judge us all. So he teaches us in Matthew 5:43-45 that if You have heard the law that says, ‘Love your neighbor’ and hate your enemy. But I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you! In that way, you will be acting as true children of your Father in heaven. For he gives his sunlight to both the evil and the good, and he sends rain on the just and the unjust alike.” So we can’t continue to fight a battle within ourselves or the world which we can’t control or win. Nothing good will ever come of hate or violence. We all have opportunity to love one another, and also begin to start to show the world who Jesus is with our actions. Today love on someone regardless of how they feel for you. #showlove

This is the last part of my series for being encouraging toward others.  According to the word God has saved and called us to live a holy life, not because we deserved it but to show us his grace through Christ Jesus. Most of the time we, believe we are deserving of having things when God knows we shouldn’t. We are expecting of too much instead of waiting on God. When tragedies happen so often we expect God not to only show up, but show out! We can’t expect God to show up when we are not faithful to him. How do we unite to encourage one another? That is a good question. With so much darkness covering world, we have to be light that spreads the good news to all people, representing Jesus who died for us all.

Encouragement in the Faith

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline. So never be ashamed to tell others about our Lord. And don’t be ashamed of me, either, even though I’m in prison for him. With the strength God gives you, be ready to suffer with me for the sake of the Good News.” 2 Timothy 1:7-8 NLT

God has put on my heart to do a series about being encouraged in your faith. But what does it mean to be encouraged in your faith? We have many events happening in the world that will discourage us and tempt us to turn away from God, whether it’s dealing with everyday troubles with sin, family, your church or people who are outsiders from God. What we have to see in the world with so much violence can be discouraging, but the word of God here in 2 Timothy 1:7-8 says, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love and self-discipline. Paul was writing a letter to Timothy, encouraging him to keep his faith and not to be afraid to preach the gospel to his people. What are we willing to suffer for, sin or Christ? This is a difficult question at times because we often choose the easy way out. Don’t let Satan ruin your faith which sets us free from sin and the rest of the world. We need to have our minds made up like Paul and decide to put away our old life and build a strong foundation of faith in Christ. Don’t forget to be encouraging today to others and also to yourself. #disciplesforchrist

Be Encouraged

By Cortney Strayhorn

How many of us have to be reminded to be encouraged? How many of you remind others to stay encouraged? It is not the easiest thing to do when we have tragedies or something happen in our life that discourages us from the word. God has reminded us in Philippians to stay encouraged by the word and to fix our thoughts on what is true, pure, honorable, lovely and admirable. Have your mind set on giving him the praise just for waking you up today. Don’t think about anything negative that has happened. Keep your eyes on the prize.  God deserves all the glory and praise. Share an encouraging thought with someone today to let them know what God has done for you. Show them how he has help you and also a way God can help that person. Share your thoughts with me as well.
